New legislation in Illinois (Public Act 103-0733) introduces new requirements when offering third-party financing at practices located in/with locations in Illinois.
To make complying with this legislation as seamless as possible for you and your team, we’ve also enhanced key features in the Cherry practice portal.
Key Updates to Note:
- Patients must receive a printed disclosure (minimum 14pt font) when financing is being offered or discussed.
- The Cherry practice portal will prompt you to print this disclosure anytime you text or email an application to a patient.
- For convenience, the disclosure is also now included on page 2 of all “Payment Estimate” printouts.
- You cannot advertise, discuss, or offer financing in the same room where treatment is performed or in other “sensitive” situations (e.g., when a patient is under anesthesia).
- You cannot complete any portion of a financing application on behalf of patients.
- To assist patients, encourage them to select the “?” icon in the Cherry application for Help Center resources or to connect with our support team.
- The “Apply with Patient” feature has been removed for Illinois practices from both the Cherry desktop portal and Point of Sale mobile app.
- Patients cannot use an electronic device provided by your practice to complete a financing application.
We encourage you to review the full details of Public Act 103-0733.
