How long does the application and approval process take?
Before or during their vet visit, clients can apply online and receive a decision all within 60 seconds. If approved, they can use their funds immediately.

How are your pet loans different from personal loans?
Unlike a traditional personal loan, Cherry is tailored for pet care and only usable with the specific vet clinic or veterinary hospital that offers it. We offer low interest rates, qualifying 0% APR, simple eligibility requirements, and never conduct a hard credit check.
Are clients with pet health insurance plans eligible?
Yes, even if your clients have pet insurance, they can still use Cherry to cover medical bills, or portions of bills, not fully covered by their insurance company.
How do clients make down payments?
Clients can use a bank-issued debit card or a credit card* to make their initial payment at time of checkout. Clients can make any future monthly payments on their Cherry account via ACH electronic transfer from their checking account, debit card or credit card*.
*Note: Making payments via credit card will result in a 2.99% processing fee for the client. There is no processing fee for making payments via ACH or bank-issued debit card.
What types of borrowers are ideal for Cherry?

What if a family member wants to co-sign or pay?
We accept applications from family members or anyone willing to help cover veterinary expenses for a pet. Payments can be made via debit card, credit card, or ACH from a bank account.
How are you different from CareCredit or Scratchpay?
Unlike CareCredit, we don’t perform hard credit checks, apply deferred interest charges, or require customers to apply for a physical credit card (like the CareCredit card). We approve nearly twice as many borrowers and are up to 50% cheaper for providers. Compared to Scratchpay, we offer 3x higher loan amounts, longer terms, and more customizable repayment plans.
How are refunds handled?
Refunds can be initiated within the transaction tab of the Provider Portal by selecting the dropdown of a completed transaction. Full refunds and partial refunds are available to choose from. Transactions that are older than 60 days are ineligible for refunds through the Cherry platform. To initiate a refund outside of the first 60 days, it is up to the practice to facilitate the refund directly with the borrower.
- Full Refunds: A full refund cancels the borrower’s contract. The practice receives reimbursement from Cherry for processing fees, and the borrower receives a credit for any remaining balance owed.
- Partial Refunds: A partial refund issues a partial credit to the borrower, not to exceed the full remaining balance. Cherry prorates and reimburses the practice’s processing fees. Partial refunds can be performed multiple times and only up to the full remaining balance.
