Wang Vision Institute, a leading refractive surgery center, was facing multiple headwinds at once: an industry-wide decline in LASIK procedures, with experts citing a roughly 10–15% drop in recent years (EyeWorld); negative LASIK perception, including documentary-driven skepticism; a new discount competitor (LASIK MD) entering the Nashville market; and patients delaying or abandoning treatment due to cost. As a result, surgical volume dropped from a target of 150 eyes/month to ~110 eyes/month.
Patients were saying “I’ll think about it” instead of moving forward, many qualified patients were getting denied by traditional financing options, staff were spending significant time navigating slow, rigid lenders, and competitors were winning on price and accessibility.
Wang Vision Institute introduced Cherry to make it easier for patients to say “yes” at the point of decision. By offering a fast, flexible financing experience with higher approval rates to all patients, Cherry helped remove the primary barrier to treatment: cost.
Wang Vision Institute saw a 20% increase in patient conversion, with more patients moving forward—especially those who previously would have been denied or delayed. Volume recovered to 130–150 cases per month, up from ~110 eyes/month, with faster patient decisions and fewer delays and more same-day commitments. The practice also saved approximately 20 minutes per patient, as a streamlined workflow and faster approvals reduced administrative burden.
Now, we’re seeing those same patients move forward—and much faster. It’s been a big part of getting our volume back.
