What is Cherry?
Cherry is the preferred third-party financing provider of 80+% of practices when compared to competitors. It helps consumers cover medical expenses for essential services — like veterinary, dental, and dermatology care — by breaking payments into monthly or weekly installments. Used by a wide range of businesses, Cherry supports providers through tailored loans that match their customers’ financing needs. For a veterinary practice, Cherry disburses funding to clients seeking to finance pet care. The provider gets paid the full amount upfront for their services, and the client repays Cherry over time.
How does Cherry work?
Here’s how it works:
- A client completes our 35-second application, undergoing a soft credit check that doesn’t harm their credit score.
- If approved, they can choose from multiple payment plans based on loan amount, repayment terms, and their budget.
- The provider receives full payment from Cherry, minus the merchant fee, usually within 2-3 business days.
- The client repays Cherry over a set period of time.
Is our practice responsible if customers don’t make payments?
You, as the practice, are not responsible for the repayment of your customers' contracts. We take on the credit risk of every contract initiated through Cherry. This is the difference between in-house financing and third-party financing.
With in-house financing, a practice loans money to its customers directly and takes on all responsibility of managing repayment, including the risk if the borrower defaults. With third-party financing, your practice outsources the lending, risk, and repayment process.
Are there monthly, annual, or one-time setup fees?
There is no annual fee, monthly maintenance fee, or setup charge. Cherry offers a quick and easy enrollment process with no hidden costs. Merchant processing fees apply, but they’re up to 50% lower than other financing companies. Cherry has the lowest merchant fees in the industry.
How are you different from the CareCredit card?
Cherry is the preferred financing partner of over 80% of practices against competitors. Unlike CareCredit, we don’t perform hard credit checks or require customers to apply for a physical credit card (like the CareCredit credit card). CareCredit cardholders are also at risk of incurring deferred interest if they don’t pay off their loan in full, on time every month, by the end of the promotional period. Cherry never uses deferred interest. Additionally, we approve nearly twice as many borrowers as CareCredit and have the lowest merchant pricing in the industry.
Cherry is also a faster, more reliable alternative to crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe, which do not guarantee full coverage for veterinary care.
